The south Korean tech. giant makes 67 million smartphones in India alone. Once this new plant starts it is expected to manufacture nearly 120 million devices in a month. Existing capacity is 50 lakh phones a month.
Location is at Noida, Sector 81. with the area of 35 acres.
This factory is worlds largest mobile phone production unit gauged in terms of Number of devices produced every month.
Narendra Modi visiting South Korea president Moon Jae-in will inaugurate a Samsung electronic facility in Uttar Pradesh (Noida) on Monday.
Samsung is betting big in India because India is the second largest mobile market in the world and accounts 10 % of global smartphone sales. The projectile users in India is likely to reach 350 millions by the end of 2019, and by 2022 Indian smartphone users are expected to reach up to a whopping 442 million.
Samsung invested Rs 4,915 crore for expanding the unit, from where it also plans to export phones to Europe, west Asia and Africa.
“The new unit has come up on an additional 35 acres adjacent to the current facility. it will double the production capacity of both mobile phone and refrigerator,” a company official said.

At Noida facility, Samsung will assemble parts sourced from its other agencies.
The current workforce is 70,000.
The expansion will be in additional 35 acres of land adjacent to the current facility. The investment proposal was pending at UP Govt, and got recently approved.
Investments in the electronics sector in India will increase from 11000 crore three years ago, to 1.52 lakh crore rupees now.
