We all know that a few days ago, Indian Wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt’s London Olympics Bronze Medal was upgraded to Silver Medal officially as Besik Kudukhov who won the Silver Medal was found doped during the 2012 London Olympics. Thus, Yogeshwar’s Bronze was upgraded to Silver. It was good news for all Indians.
The nation was delighted when Yogeshwar Dutt’s bronze medal upgraded into a Silver medal. The humble Yogeshwar Dutt even won our hearts when he wanted the deceased wrestler’s family to keep the Silver medal out of respect. Besik Kudukhov had died in a car crash in 2013 in southern Russia.
But here is another Good News!!! Yogeshwar Dutt might get his Silver Medal upgraded to Gold. Are you shocked?
Yes, it’s true.
The IOC has been conducting retests of samples from 2012 London and 2008 Beijing Olympics to expose more drugs cheats. Toghrul Asgarov, who won the Gold Medal in the men’s 60kg freestyle category at London Olympics is also returning positive for banned substance. Asgarov of Azerbaijan was tested positive for consuming performance enhancing drugs.
Earlier, Russian agency flowrestling.org had reported that the four-time world champion and two-time Olympic medalist Besik Kudukhov of Russia, was found to have used a banned substance in a test conducted by the WADA.
As per WADA’s revised norms, samples taken for dope tests from international tournaments are now been stored in deep freeze up to 10 years in order to allow the use of advanced technology, available with the passage of time, to catch the dope cheats to ensure that ‘the clean athletes get justice even if it comes a bit late’.
With both the gold and silver medallists in 60kg category testing positive for banned substance, Yogeshwar Dutt might be an Olympic gold medal winner! Although the official announcement is yet to be made but it is very likely that he has already won the gold!! This is really good news. Isn’t it?
