Lucknow: A plan is underway by the Yogi Adityanath government to develop a 500 acre of ‘New Ayodhya’ township on the banks of the Sarayu river, news agencies reported. The move comes just less than six month after chief minister Yogi Adityanath made an announcement of a grand 100 metre statue of Ram in the ancient city.
‘New Ayodhya’ is under planning as of now over a stretch of land that lies between the villages of Majha Barhata and Jaisingh Mau close to the ancient city of Ayodhya. The cost of the construction may be at an estimated initial cost of around 3.5 billion ruppes or 350 crores. It will be very close to the Lucknow –Gorakhpur expressway and near to the banks of the Sarayu river, which is in fact a tributary of the river Ganga.
The 100 metre stature which was announced by the UP government back in October 2017 will be built at an estimated cost of around 330 crores.
To complete these ambitious projects, the government of Uttar Pradesh has made a request to the corporate firms and multinationals to contribute from their Corporate Social Responsibility or CSR to be able to realize such mega plans. According to the UP government, the move will help boost tourism in Ayodhya which can indirectly benefit the people living in the city.
A report states that the proposed ‘New Ayodhya’ project has already got a green signal informally by the state government. A formal announcement is to be made soon. If further goes on to say that the ‘New Ayodhya’ project will be under the jurisdiction and administration of the Ayodhya Faizabad Development Authority or AFDA.
According to a report quoting executive engineer of the Ayodhya Faizabad Development Authority, Manoj Kumar Mishra as saying that a meeting has been scheduled in this regard for the 13th of April after which the proposal will be referred to the state government.
The report also says that the project is to be implemented in several phases. The first phase will be involving the work being carried out on 100 acres of land which can be termed to 20 per cent of all the work. If completed, ‘New Ayodhya’ will have will have temples, parks, public spaces, shopping arcades and luxury hotels. The proposed township will also have adequate residential areas and will be built with water and sewage infrastructure of international standards.
The government of Yogi Adityanath wants to get the work completed for the first phase of the ‘New Ayodhya’ township within 18 months from the commencement of the project.
With this initiative the government aims to attract tourists, both from local as well as international level.
