Is Your Boss Making You Work Harder? Know The Consequences

There are people who voluntarily turn workaholic, and there are some others who are forced to work more than they need to, well, in the latter case, bosses are the villains.

Now, working more than a saturation time will definitely land you in trouble. Getting into the number of hours a man should work every day and the consequences, let us break down the details which include the precise information.

A recent study on this subject has revealed some useful things. Working long hours increases a person’s risk of heart failure, dementia and suffering a stroke. Scientists compared people who worked 35 to 40 hours a week to those who labor for more than 55 hours.

The survey included that those who work more than the mentioned hours will face the worst aftermath the 10 years. They are more likely to suffer atrial fibrillation (AF) – a condition that causes dangerous irregular heartbeat along with many side effects.

Professor Mika Kivimaki, a lead researcher from University College London said that the findings showed that long working hours are associated with an increased risk of atrial fibrillation, the most common cardiac arrhythmia, which could lead to stroke eventually.

He added that those who worked long hours had a 1.4 times higher risk of developing atrial fibrillation.

Mika concluded saying that the nine out of 10 of the atrial fibrillation cases occurred in people who were free of pre-existing or concurrent cardiovascular disease which suggests that the increased risk is likely to reflect the effect of long working hours rather than the effect of any pre-existing or concurrent cardiovascular problem.
