Longest Lunar Eclipse from July 27-28, is Going To Be Longest of This Century

As per an announcement made by ministery of Earth Science. The lunar Eclipse on July 27-28, which will be of 1 hour 43 minutes duration total. Would be the longest there is of the century 2001-2100. As per them, the eclipse will be visible only from few areas in India.

 

 

What does ministry said?

Talking about the details, ministry said, that “The partial eclipse of the moon will begin at 11.54 PM (IST) on July 27. The Moon will be gradually covered by the earth’s shadow and the totality phase will begin at 1am (IST) on July 28. “The total eclipse will last up to 2.43am (IST) on 28 July. Then the moon will start to gradually come out of Earth’s shadow and partial eclipse will end at 3.49am (IST) on July 28.”

According to them the eclipse will last around 2:43 am on July Indian time. They said that it will begin at 1 am July 28.

Apart from this the ministry also shared details of celestial phenomena. In which the red planet Mars and the Sun will be opposite to each other, while keeping Earth in middle. Which will cause it appears brighter than usual. And will also be closer to Earth. It will be seen from evening of July 27 until dawn. You can easily spot Mars on July 27-28 with naked eye as It will remain close to the eclipsed moon.

How to see the eclipse?

It is not wose to look at eclipse with naked eyes. People who wants to see though, can use special kind of spectecal. Unlike a total solar eclipse, a total lunar eclipse can be visible from entire hemisphere of Earth.

You can watch it live from NASA live. On the Internet. The Eclipse will last a total of 108 minutes. And you can see it from the start to end.
