Michael Jordan, a six-time NBA Champion, has pledged to donate $1 Million USD to hurricane relief efforts and programs in the Bahamas after Hurricane Dorian caused immeasurable damage to homes and agricultural land all over the country.
Hurricane Dorian, which is the strongest hurricane ever to make landfall in the Bahamas, has destroyed thousands of houses and has claimed the lives of at least 50 people.

Thousands are still missing in the Bahamas.
The pledge was announced by Estee Portnoy, the manager and the spokeswoman of Michael Jordan.
The statement said, “I am devastated to see the destruction that Hurricane Dorian has brought to the Bahamas, where I own property and visit frequently. My heart goes out to everyone who is suffering and to those who have lost loved ones. As the recovery and relief efforts continue, I will be tracking the situation closely and working to identify non-profit agencies where the funds will have the most impact.”
The statement added, “The Bahamian people are strong and resilient and I hope that my donation will be of help as they work to recover from this catastrophic storm.”
The official death toll rose to 50 on Monday. 42 people were killed in Abaco Island and 8 people were killed in Grand Bahama.
The information was released by the Royal Bahamas Police Force in an official statement.
The United Nations announced on Friday last week and said over 76,000 people were left homeless by Hurricane Dorian.
Most of the affected people are in the Grand Bahama Island and the Abaco Islands in the Bahamas.
