It was one of the embarrassing moments in World’s most loving game ‘Football’ matches. In the Weekend Amateur League game in southeastern Brazil, one of the referees was seen with his gun warning a person in the ground while the match is going on. The Brazilian football referee didn’t bother with a red card. Amateur side Brumadinho was playing against Amantes da Bola which literally translates as “Lovers of the Ball.”
The video footage shows the referee was uncontrollable showing his gun to the opposite person. Gabriel Murta has gone to the changing rooms to get the weapon and racing back onto the pitch, waving it around. Thus, the referee has been led away by the other match officials. No arrests were made, but according to the reports by a news site, the referee will be given a psychological evaluation and could face disciplinary measures.
Watch the moment a Brazilian referee pulling a gun out:
Referees’ association boss Giuliano Bozzano said the official felt threatened and went to look for the weapon to defend himself. Mr. Bozzano said: “The Minais Gerais Football Federation has already summoned the referee and a psychologist to a meeting and I’m going to talk with him today.” On the basis of that conversation and his account of events and the results of the psychological assessment, I will decide what if measures are to be taken.
He was due to undergo a psychological assessment on Tuesday and could face suspension or a permanent ban. “What’s happened is obviously not a common occurrence and I don’t want to rush into anything.” At the moment it happened he’s opted for getting his gun because in his view it was a question of controlling a situation.”
