Champions Trophy has begun, people are eagerly waiting to witness their favorite players doing miracles on the field. Meanwhile, AB de Villiers, South African skipper, has started doing his best already by fetching the much-needed breakthrough “single-handedly” through an exquisite effort in the outfield.
The 33-year old manages to send Kusal Mendis to the dressing room, a wicket that shifted the momentum in South Africa’s favor. Sri Lanka seemed to be breezing towards the 300-run target that South African had set them scoring 69 runs at the loss of a single wicket in the Powerplay overs.
The efforts of AB D are must be appreciated and equally deserves everything, as this wicket played a crucial role in bidding a win against the mighty Sri Lankans. This happened during the 12th over in which Chris Morris was brought on to bowl. On the 5th delivery of his over, Morris bowled a good length ball which was slow off the wicket and Kusal Mendis lobbed the ball over the off side.
It initially appeared like the ball is heading towards the boundary but it was AB D who restricted the flow single-handedly by jumping and stretching his body full-length to gobble up a stunner and get a crucial breakthrough for his team.
