For a person of Sachin Tendulkar’s stature, people always lay their eyes of the successors. Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar has certainly raised the bars of cricket by achieving some impossible records in all the International formats of cricket. He was/is and still be the role model for many cricketers in the world.
Starting exclusively from a couple of years, his son Arjun Tendulkar is on news all the way since then. It is his entry into cricket that roped him into the limelight. To be fair his left arm medium pace also speaks immensely about his abilities but just like every other star kid- he too is in the limelight not in the way they appreciate it.
One must understand that if it was about power, Arjun would have been in the Indian Team by now but Sachin would be the first one to advise him against using his name and we are glad that Arjun is following his father’s footsteps of determination and hard work to reach his goal.
We have seen Sachin Tendulkar’s son, Arjun Tendulkar recently joining in to test himself against the best in business while also learn some valuable techniques from former cricketers and coaches. He had been performing quite well in almost every tournament he plays.
He is proving himself both with the bat and also with the ball. Arjun was also seen bowling to Indian players and getting advice to shape his bowling to the standards of International cricket. Arjun Tendulkar has been putting impressive performances under his heavy surname.
While many of us think that Arjun’s role model would undoubtedly be his father and/or Wasim Akram, who mentored him in bowling, but Arjun himself opted to pick two different names. In the Global T20 series in Australia, Arjun impressed everyone with his all-round performance.
Playing for Cricketer’s Club of India against Hong Kong Cricket Club in a T20 match on Thursday, Arjun stunned the Bradman Oval, as he went on to take 48 runs off 27 deliveries as an opener while also picking up four wickets in his spell of four overs.
Post-match, in an interview, Arjun revealed a few aspects, ranging from his experience of playing at the venue and of course his cricketing idols. “I’m just so privileged to play on the ground named after the Bradman, it’s unbelievable,” said Arjun.
When asked why he chose to become a fast bowler considering his father was a top-class batsman, Arjun had a simple answer. “I just got stronger, grew taller and I loved bowling fast from my childhood. I thought I may as well be a quick bowler because there aren’t many in India,” he replied.
Arjun was asked about his role model, he took the names of Australian left-arm speedster Mitchell Starc and England all-rounder, Ben Stokes. Arjun also said that he is determined to build his own path as a cricketer and not rely on the family name of Tendulkar, but of course, he will be taking advice from his father when required.
Arjun also revealed about cricketing tips his father gave him. He said, “[He says] just play fearlessly, play for your team, be a team man and give everything you’ve got.” Speaking about his game plan, Arjun said, “I don’t take that pressure, when I bowl I just hit the deck hard on every ball and when I bat just play my shots and choose which bowlers to take on and which bowlers not to.”
