In the recent ODI match between New Zealand and Bangladesh, Sabbir Rahman’s run out opened the floodgates for Kiwis as they bundled out Bangladesh for just 187 runs. The hosts picked nine Bangladesh wickets for just 79 runs to turn the match completely in their favor.
The game of Cricket sometimes looks like a funny game when we see few drops catches and silly run outs. The latest to feature in the unwanted category of ‘funniest run-outs’ is Bangladeshi duo of Imrul Kayes and Sabbir Rahman.
Bangladesh is chasing 252 runs set by the hosts and they were well on course until this happened. Opener Imrul Kayes and Sabbir had put on 75 runs for the second wicket after losing Tamim Iqbal early on the chase. In 23rd over, Sabbir was run-out in a comical fashion which eventually broke Bangladesh’s scoring rate.
Kayes after pushing the Santner’s ball towards the short cover sat off for a quick run as Sabbir initially responded to the call but then decided to abort the run. Kayes was too fast as he didn’t hear Sabbir shouting ‘No, No’. Luke Ronchi collected the throw from Kane Williamson and dislodged the bails at strikers end.

At this point of time, both the batsmen were at the non-striker’s end and as Kayes crossed the line first, Sabbir was given out. However, New Zealand won the match and with this win, Kiwis clinched the three-match series 2-0 with one match to go.
