The hosts of ICC Champions Trophy 2017 England team is all set for the first Semi-final of the tournament against Pakistan today. The English team is eyeing on the title which they had missed it in 2013 for India.
England has reached the Semi-finals by winning all the three league matches against Australia, New Zealand and Bangladesh in Group-A. One of the key players in England team is All-rounder Ben Stokes. We all know that he is highest paid player of Indian Premier League (IPL) this year and his contribution helped Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) team reach the finals.
Actually, any captain would be dying to have a player alike Stokes in his side. He is one of the few three-in-one players. He can bat in any situation, can give his captain the breakthrough when needed and is an exceptional fielder.
Stokes remains key for England but the Three Lions need to be careful against the unpredictable Pakistan unit. Last time the two teams met in Cardiff, Pakistan chased down England’s 300-plus total. Stokes was effective with the bat but didn’t make major contributions with the ball. This time, however, he would like to pen a different script.
On the eve of England’s Champions Trophy semi-final, England team has been practicing for a while and something unexpected happened to Ben Stokes during the practice session. Stokes was hit by the ball at the lower part of the stomach and he didn’t take too kindly to a painful training blow and took it out on the woodwork.
