West Indies destructive batsman Chris Gayle who now plays in Big Bash League for Melbourne Renegades had involved in a controversy regarding his golden bat. Gayle is well known as a big hitter and famous for hitting sixes. In a match between Melbourne Renegades and Brisbane Heat, Chris Gayle came out with his Golden bat for the first in BBL. Gayle’s bat manufacturer ‘Spartan’ specially designed a ‘Golden’ bat for Chris Gayle.
Though, there had been many controversies, Gayle continued his own way of batting with the golden bat smashing few outstanding sixes in the match. In this match, Chris Gayle created a new record. Gayle became the first batsman to hit 600 sixes in T20 cricket. The highlight of Gayle’s 600th six was Gayle found a fielder in the crowd to catch the ball. The biggest attraction for the massive crowd was the new ‘Golden’ bat.
