For the first time in 12 years, Brazil has won the Copa America after their 3-1 win over Peru. The match was held at the Estadio do Maracana in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.
In just 15 minutes, Gabriel Jesus set up Everton Soares, who scored a goal from a cross of Jesus.
Paolo Guerrero then equalized the match in the 44 minute of the match via a penalty and 4 minutes after the goal of Guerrero, Jesus scored a goal at the 45+3’ and brought the lead with them in halftime.
The playtime of Jesus was cut short after he was sent off at the 70th minute of the match. He was seen crying at the bench when he was sent off by the referee.
Even with Jesus out at the second half of the match, Peru only managed to attempt two shots in the final 20 minutes of the match.
At the 87th minute of the match, Everton earned a penalty and Richarlison of Brazil converted it and secured the win for the team.
This is the first time since 1975 that Peru managed to get into the finals of the Copa America.
The last time Brazil played at the Estadio do Maracana for a final was in 1950, in which they lost to Uruguay.
