The ACA-Barsapara Stadium is making its international debut with the second T20I, adding to the growing list of cricket venues in the country. Overwhelming dominant so far against the Aussies, the Indian team had come aiming to wrap up another series win when they take on a fumbling Australia in the match.
As it was the fresh pitch to the Australians and also for the Indians, the report said to be the non-bouncy throughout the match. However, Australian captain David Warner won the toss and after a few plans went wrong, he elected to bowl first.
His anticipation putting the hosts to batting has worked out completely well. The one-match old bowler Jason Behrendorff had ripped the Indian top order by taking back-to-back wickets of the world class batsmen.
It was the 3rd over of Behrendorff and Opener Dhawan was facing the third ball of the over. It was a good length delivery and Dhawan stepped out to loft-drive the ball, chipped it in the air, the bounce meant the ball probably hit him high on the bat, so there was more height on this than distance.
It was definitely a fielder’s wicket as Warner had judged it well running back from mid-on, quickly turned and exactly predicted the trajectory to grab it so easily. Behrendorff has four now. India is tottering at 27/4, but there’s a loud cheer in the ground as MS Dhoni walks out.
