Yesterday’s match was one of its kind that never happened before. TeamIndia has done a fantastic job on the whole, amidst the least expectations on the score as the opening batsmen deliberately left the team in chaos, it was Hardik Pandya, MS Dhoni and Bhuvaneshwar who rode Indian team to bag a maximum 281 runs after losing 5 wickets for 87 runs.
Moreover, it is Pandya’s 83 and Dhoni’s 79 that added some enormous runs to the Indian team. Some unexpected, yet ace runs were delivered by bowler Bhuvaneshwar, whose recent best-scores are penning him as another fine all-rounder for the Indian team.
However, though batsmen did their best to manage the match to stay within the hands, it is bowlers who restricted the rivals from clinching the match by bagging 168 runs (score adjusted to 168/21 overs acc. to DLS method)
Earlier, while Australians were yet to strike, the hero of the day Pandya spoke about his score and batting alongside Dhoni, he said, “The situation where we were, it feels good. They were on top and the pressure was there, so it was important to give myself some time. Came off pretty well.”
Post the completion of the match, Pandya has revealed some interesting things about his partnership with Dhoni. He disclosed the plan Dhoni had about the match, the score they projected and aimed for.
He added, “I was trying to hit out before the Zampa over as well. Generally, my plan is hitting straight – I don’t care if long-off is there or long-on is there. If I connect well, I know I will clear the boundary,” Pandya added.
“It was important for me to make a partnership with MSD. I mean, I have learned a lot from him, still learning. We were speaking how we need to change things up. It is a pleasure to play with him. When we were batting, we were thinking of 230, so we’ll take this,” concluded the Baroda player.
On the other hand, though Maxwell’s 39 and Faulkner’s 32 has raised some hopes for the Australian Team, bowler Chahal’s astounding drop dismissed the former and added some valuable credits to the Bleed Blue. For all good, thanks to the bowlers for upholding the match at all the risk. They truly deserve respect in every possible way. It appears like Indias’ future is now in safe hands.
