ICC Test rankings: Virat Kohli Drops Out Of Top-10, R Ashwin Moves Up To 8th Spot

India Test Captain Virat Kohli had lost his rank in top-10 list in the test cricket format. Until the day before, Kohli was the only batsman from India to be in top 10 ranks list. He was dropped out from the top 10 list and Ravichandran Ashwin had done outstanding job in the ongoing test series with Sri Lanka and he had improved his rank in the top 10 bowlers list. These changes are recorded after India vs Sri Lanka 2nd test and Ashes final test.

Ashwin had jumped up to eighth spot in the bowling rankings and second spot in the all-rounder’ list. Ajinkya Rahane had scored brilliant century and moved up two places to a career-high (20th) position. Coming to young Lokesh Rahul, he jumped up 30 places to 87th rank and wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha also proved his consistent performance and jumped up 15 places to 100th rank.

Meanwhile, Sri Lankan batting Kumar Sangakkara finished his glorious career at seventh spot with wonderful career. Sangakkara spent a total of 97 Tests and 812 days as the No. 1 Test batsman in the world and was last number one in December 2014, before losing the top spot to AB de Villiers. Australian captain Michael Clarke has finished his Test career in 25th spot and both players played their last match on the same day.

Coming to bowler rankings, Australia’s Mitchell Johnson has gained 2 spots to 6th. While Ashwin’s wonderful figures in the ongoing series 7 wickets for 118 run in Colombo has helped the off spinner overtake Rangana Herath into eighth place. Amit Mishra had moved up 42 places to 39th rank. Steven Smith has reclaimed the top spot ahead of AB de Villiers in batting. Coming to team rankings, India is now at 6th position.

In the deciding third and final Test between Sri Lanka and India, which starts at Colombo on Friday, if India wins the series 2-1, it will overtake New Zealand and move into fifth place. But if Sri Lanka wins, it will take 6th position pushing India to 7th.
