The ongoing Test series between India and Sri Lanka has been one-sided by the hosts as the first Test resulted in a draw due to rain and team India defeated the visitors in the second Test by 239 runs. However, the No 1 Test team is continuing its winning streak in the longest format of the game.
The first Test was conducted in Kolkata. As everyone has been wondering as to who this young lad is. And finally, after some curiosity, he has been identified as Pankaj Shaw. He’s a 29-year-old first class cricketer from Bengal. Pankaj was seen taking the drinks for the Indian team players during India’s first innings. Later, he was again seen doing the duties of the 12th man when the visitors were batting.
Pankaj made his first-class cricket debut last year at Kolkata against Rajasthan. He since then has represented his state in 12 first-class matches and has scored 2 tons and 6 fifties. His highest score is 118. He earlier has also represented Bengal at under 19 and under 22 levels.
Shaw’s moment of fame had come last year when he had cracked 413 in a club game in the Bengal First Division Tournament. His monumental effort had come for the Barisha Sporting against the Dakshin Kalikata. He hit 44 fours and 23 sixes in his knock.
