It is well known about the stardom and the celebrity status a cricketer can earn after delivering some mind blogging innings. Well! here’s a player who never gets tired in impressing the cricket buffs out there. Since from the very beginning, Kohli has been giving his best in baiting the toughest innings for India.
Though he became captain for team India, the levels of strokes and gracefulness in hitting centuries didn’t leave him. His excellent captaincy techniques and inevitable strike rate is something which very rare players can have. And yes! he is getting his returns, avid multinational companies are booming behind him showering a lot of money to represent their brands.
Despite the amazing sportsmanship, Kohli is well admired for his attire and hairstyles, which eventually made him the heartthrob of Indian youth. Kohli, however, has 20+ deals in his hands, but now, the recent offer from Puma has taken him to the whole new level, this deal sums up a lump sum of Rs 110 crores which no Indian has never got before.
Now, months after this, a prominent soft-drinks company- Pepsi has come forward to Kohli urging to make an extension in the endorsement. The company even offered some multi-crore rupees. As per the sources, skipper simply turned down the offer with respect to his ethics and personal preferences.
Not only that, Kohli even dropped skin creams sponsorships, he believes that gearing success by using the fairness creams is way untrue and cheating. Just like a gentleman he is known as. Kohli said that he cannot encourage a brand or a product on which he never laid his hands, he believed that he should promote the products carefully because a lot many people from the cricket fraternity and fans will follow his choices.
The source close to the player added, “Virat also no longer endorses fairness creams or products of that genre. Virat has risen through the ranks by virtue of talent and hard work, the fairness products which relate one’s success with skin tone is something that goes against the values for which he stands. If Virat is endorsing health products of Herbalife, endorsing any junk food or fizzy drinks contradicts with his image also.”
In a recent interview, Kohli was seen saying, “I first convince myself I can do it and only then ask my teammates to go for it, if I myself won’t consume such things, I won’t urge others to consume it, just because I am getting money out of it. When I started my fitness turnaround, it was more of a lifestyle thing initially, if something goes away from that, I would not want to be a part of that or be promoting that.”
Well, for all good, that’s Virat Kohli for you, an honest, responsible and able captain for Bleed Blue.
