After announcing his decision to quit the captaincy of India’s ODI and T20I teams, MS Dhoni is set to lead out an Indian team for one final time when he captains India A against England in the first warm-up game in Mumbai. More than 20,000 people who were present at the iconic Mumbai venue broke into a unanimous chant, as Dhoni came out to bat.
The crowd went berserk with chants of “Dhoni, Dhoni, Dhoni” right from the word go and their desperation to watch their beloved player in action only grew after every passing over.

One of the fans invaded the playing area to meet Dhoni and touch his feet and there was brief interruption to the match. However, Dhoni, who has always been very vocal in showing his support for the fans, extended his hands to shake hands with the invader who was running towards him before being escorted out of the ground by the ground officials.

The 35-year-old Dhoni came into bat as Ambati Rayudu retired after scoring exactly 100 runs. Dhoni went on to smash a brilliant 68 off 40 balls in the innings, helping India A reach a massive score of 304 from 50 overs. He was merely playing his last match as the captain in India colors – a match that happened to be a practice game between India A and England.
