Former India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni was known for his unconventional style of captaincy. The cricketer regularly pulled off surprising decisions on the field. Now off the field, Dhoni continues to do the same. Recently, he has been seen spending quality time with family and friends after taking off the significant weight of the captaincy.
The wicket-keeper batsman – who was appointed Jharkhand’s captain for the Vijay Hazare Trophy – was spotted traveling in a train with his teammates. Yes, I said TRAIN. Dhoni shared the picture, which was taken inside a train coach, on his Instagram account.
He was appointed the captain of the Jharkhand cricket team for the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy, the premium one-day tournament in India. The skipper decided to travel with his team in a train.
For someone who is known to travel around in planes, when he decided to take a train ride, it was truly a touching gesture. He was quoted making a rather heartwarming statement, “I am traveling in a train after 13 years. It is a long route and I will enjoy it. I’ll talk to my team-mates and enjoy.”
Dhoni was, in fact, a TTE (Train Ticket Examiner) before he went on to become a cricketing legend.

The wicketkeeper-batsman has played for the state side in the last couple of seasons, but had not taken up the captain’s role. The Jharkhand team boasts of a strong squad, with the explosive Ishan Kishan and top domestic spinner Shahbaz Nadeem in their ranks.
Dhoni, along with his team-mates, were traveling to Kolkata for their opening match of Vijay Hazare Trophy against Karnataka on February 25 at the Eden Gardens stadium. The former India captain generally travels in his ‘Hummer’ but this time he traveled in AC 1st-Tier from Hatia to Howarh.
