In yesterday’s IPL match between Rising Pune Supergiants and Kolkata Knight Riders, an MSD special took place that saw him deflecting the ball to the stumps. MS Dhoni has made it a habit of stunning the opposition with his quick glove work. He is well-known for his lighting quick stumpings especially deflecting to the stumps to complete improbable run outs.
It was not the first time that MS Dhoni was seen doing this. He has a unique style of stumping which is loved by every cricket fan. In the match, Dhoni was critical in providing his team with the first wicket of Sunil Narine. Sunil Narine had been looking very threatening with his power hitting.
In the third over, Washington Sundar’s delivery deflected off Gautam Gambhir’s pad towards short fine leg. Narine called for a run but a swift effort from Shardul Thakur caught him short of the crease at the batting end. Apparently, the ball would have missed the stumps if Dhoni wouldn’t have deflected it to hit the stumps.
He showed great match awareness to ensure that the ball crashed into the stumps. The umpire referred it to the television umpires. And the replays suggested that the batsman was well short of his crease. Thakur was good at his job but Dhoni is outstanding with his lightning stumping.

Narine had to make the long walk back after scoring 16 off 11 balls. Earlier in the game, the Rising Pune Supergiant has scored 182/5 in their 20 overs. Dhoni had looked quite good with the bat too. He had scored a quick 23 off 11 balls with 2 sixes and a four to his name.
However, KKR won the match by 7 wickets with the help of Captain Gautam Gambhir and Robin Uthappa’s well-made fifties.
