‘Ravi Shastri Is Not Yet Declared As Head Coach’ Confirms BCCI After News Went Like A Widespread

It has been an hour and social media went berserk over Ravi Shastri being selected as India’s new head coach. There are lot many things left unsaid, it partly seems like news channels are taking us way ahead of time.

In the beginning, the news stating that Shastri will apply to the position only if he is guaranteed for the grant has gone viral, and now, a popular Indian news channel just went forward publishing that Shastri is declared as the Indian coach, surprisingly the results haven’t arrived yet and here we are, trolling the BCCI, Kohli and Ravi Shastri added.

Coming to the facts, we all knew that, out of ten applicants: Ravi Shastri, Virender Sehwag, Craig McDermott, Lance Klusener, Rakesh Sharma, Lalchand Rajput, Phil Simmons, Tom Moody, Dodda Ganesh and Richard Pybus, only six were shortlisted for the interview and they are Sehwag, Pybus, Rajput, Shastri, Simmons, and Moody respectively.

In an interview conducted by the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC)’s three members: Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, and VVS Laxman; Ravi Shastri, Virender Sehwag and Tom Moody were so far the position favorites.

Later, talking about the final decision, a BCCI official has said that skipper Virat Kohli will be consulted and his opinion will be recorded in the deed, more likely the BCCI will end up choosing Shastri. Moreover, the delay in the decision is because of Kohli’s absence, and it is stated that final decision will be made as soon as Kohli returns from America.

Going into further details, he then said: “Till around 9:30 in the evening, it was decided that the coach’s call would be made after the CAC meets with Kohli once he is back from America. But then things started rolling and the COA made it clear to the CAC that the announcement should be made today itself. Johri and BCCI secretary Amitabh Choudhary were briefed of the same.”

“The CAC was indeed impressed by Ravi Shastri’s presentation and it was then decided that Kohli should be brought into the scene and the skipper should make the call because, at the end of the day, it is the captain who will have to spend time with the coach and the equation cannot be compromised,” concluded the official.
