Bangladesh Cricket has been drastically changed since few years. It’s been like a reborn to the game in the country with the current crops punching above their weight to beat some big names, including Australia, South Africa, and New Zealand. With almost young team except for Mushfiqur, Shakib, and Mortaza, the team has been developing in all aspects.
Meanwhile, One of the star batsmen during recent times has been Sabbir Rahman. The batsman has been in good touch over the past few years but has also come under criticism for his Twitter remarks. He was infamous for once having said that the Bangladeshi side could chase down 500 runs in an ODI match.
Yet again, he has become the center of all trolls on the social media. He has come to the fore yet again in the memes and trolls for having said that he can become like ace Indian batsman Virat Kohli. Currently, the Indian captain is arguably the most consistent and successful batsman across all the three formats of the game.
Virat is the most successful batsman across all three formats currently playing and is also the most consistent. On top of that, he is the captain of the squad and is also the holder of some of the biggest records in international cricket. Recently, he also equaled Ricky Ponting’s tally of 30 ODI centuries to become joint second on the list of batsmen with most ODI tons in the cricket history.
Rahman has not reached that level and is nowhere close to doing so, but he did play crucial innings, having hit 66 in Bangladesh’s second innings against Australia.
Soon after the day’s play, he expressed his happiness over the way he contributed to the team’s cause. He went on to quote that he can become like Kohli but does not like any comparisons since it is not his priority.
“I am happy to make a contribution to the team. I had the right mindset when I went out to bat. I don’t have much experience but I train a lot. It is important to play in your own way on these wickets. I might have got out earlier if I tried to survive in this wicket. I can become a batsman like Virat Kohli, everything is possible. I can’t be compared to him; it is more important to score runs for the team,” Sabbir said.
Hence, it comes as no surprise why the Twitterati could not digest it when Sabbir Rahman claimed that he can be like Kohli. While he deservedly got lambasted, it seems he is taking it a notch higher with his recent comments.
