As every Indian fan wishes, it is now evident that India is all set to take on England in the finals of the World Cup 2017. And they are going very well so far with back to back wins on their shoulders. Mainly, the blitz from Harmanpreet Kaur and the collective effort from the bowlers secured a spot for India in the finals by thumping Australia by a fair margin of 36 runs at England derby.
The match was well set-up by Harmanpreet Kaur’s record-breaking 171* off just 115 balls with the help of 20 fours and seven sixes.
Mithali Raj and Deepti Sharma provided good support to Harmanpreet as she cruised to her 3rd ODI hundred. The bowling department also put up a clinical performance to restrict the Aussies. Deepti clinched three wickets while Jhulan Goswami and Shikha Pandey finished with two wickets each. Finally, India won the Semi-Final with all-round performances.
While everyone was busy celebrating this win, Commentator Sanjay Manjrekar was in a different state of mind. Actually, Twitterati trolled Manjrekar badly for passing an “Insensitive remark” against the Indian captain Mithali Raj during the commentary.
The former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar is known for his witty comments while doing commentary in the matches. He is equally active in social media as well and utilizes every occasion to troll someone on Twitter. But this time, Manjrekar faced severe criticism from the Indian Twitterati following his tweet.
Batting first, India scored a massive 281/4 in 42 overs, courtesy Harmanpreet’s brilliant knock. It all happened while Australia was off to a poor start, losing three wickets for 21 runs in the first powerplay when Manjrekar questioned Mithali’s ‘defensive’ tactics.
Commentator Sanjay Manjrekar made an insensitive remark saying,
Mithali Raj’s captaincy will decide the fate of this match. Too defensive currently. Fielders in the circle also trying to save boundaries.

His post read: “Mithali Raj’s captaincy will decide the fate of this match. Too defensive currently. Fielders in the circle also trying to save boundaries.”
Mithali Raj is known for her Good captaincy and great strategies in her international career for team India.
The Women cricketer fans were clearly upset over this remark, the term “Defensive Captaincy” didn’t go down well with Mithali fans and many took to Twitter to slam him.
The reactions which followed were nothing short of hilarious:
She is a captain of Indian team…. she is having more experience than u as a captain 👩✈️

How many times have you captained the national team in a world cup semi-final?

Need to concentrate on commentary rather than captaincy

Have patience ! She is the captain and you are a critic sitting in a chair 🙏🏻

Not only this, the former Indian cricketer made another blunder in the commentary box. Manjrekar, while commentating absolutely forgot that the game was shortened from 50 overs to 42 overs.
Twice – first during the 37th over of Australia’s innings, he said there were 13 overs left. And he said that there were 12 overs remaining after the 38th over. It was not until someone in the comm box corrected him that Manjrekar rectifies his error, but it was too late.
Taking a dig at this, someone in the comm box corrected him that Manjrekar rectifies his error, but it was too late.
Dear @sanjaymanjrekar It’s a 42 Over Game! Stop Saying After Every Over 12 Overs Left, 13 Overs Left! Once It’s a Mistake But Every Over??

What match are you watching? It’s a 42 over match. You said 13 overs remaining at 37 and 12 over remaining at 38.
