IPL 2018’s final match between MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings and Williamson led Sunrisers Hyderabad team kept the viewers in awe. The match renewed the glory of CSK making them the third consecutive trophy winners. Though SRH left a hefty target of 178, CSK managed to face the tough Hyderbadi bowlers and bag the title in a stunning manner.
Watson’s century and Rayudu’s back-to-back hits pushed the score of CSK, made them wrap up the innings in no time. Post the match, MS Dhoni interacted with media and his comments regarding the match are as priceless as they can ever be.
Next to this, SRH’s skipper Kane Williamson made some interesting comments on Watson’s century and CSK’s amazing performance. The skipper went saying, “We thought it would be a very competitive total. It was a good surface but the slower balls were holding. Hats off, Shane Watson comes and gets 120 not out in the final. It’s frustrating, but CSK were deserved winners. They certainly showed their experience.”
Meanwhile, Watson on the other side was all excited about the great innings and the success in finals. At the beginning, there was this tremendous pressure on him for hitting no runs in the starting overs. Started with the unimpressive 1 Run in 11 balls, Watson went raising the bars with the unstoppable boundaries.
Talking about the same, he went saying, “It means a lot to be with a franchise like CSK. After those first ten balls, I was only hoping to catch up to at least a run-a-ball. Bhuvi is really good with the new ball and was lucky to get the opportunity to catch up.”
He then added “It was good that I got a couple of boundaries to hit and get on par to take it from there. The good thing is that I wouldn’t be playing for the next three-four months; feels great. It gives me plenty of time to recover. Throughout the back end of the tournament I was hanging on for dear life, Stephen Fleming and MS Dhoni have been looking after me really well and I am really glad to contribute like I did tonight.”
