Currently, the Indian women’s cricket team are in England playing for the ICC Women’s World Cup 2017. And they are going very well so far with back to back wins on their shoulders. Mainly, the Indian left-handed opener player Smriti Mandhana has been hitting headlines for her amazing strikes and stupendous form in the ongoing World Cup.
The 20-year-old Mandhana has been in superb form since the beginning of the tournament bagging two consecutive Player of the Match awards. Now, she has become the new heartthrob of team Indian fans!
In India’s first match of the WWC 2017, she has scored a fluent 90 against England. Subsequently, Mandhana smashed an unbeaten knock of 106 runs with the help of 13 boundaries and 2 sixes guiding her team to victory against the West Indies side.
Amidst all this, we have recently seen the captain Mithali Raj giving a mouth shutting reply to a journalist who asked her about her favorite male cricketer. And now joining her in the club to defend media attacks like a pro-Smriti Mandhana gave a classy reply to a BBC reporter’s sarcastic question.
Coming to the point, Smriti was asked by a BBC journalist that whether she thought Team India would be able to win the World Cup this year in the post match conference.
Giving him a perfect answer, Smriti said, ‘“What? You don’t?”
Even the reporter was stunned by the answer she gave and couldn’t stop himself appreciating through his Twitter account.
Here’s what he tweeted:
“Do you think India can win the tournament?”

With 196 runs and two Player of the Match awards already, it’s evident that Mandhana will be the key player in India’s trophy campaign.
However, in the interview, she even said: “I haven’t worked really hard for the last five months to get fit just for a 90 or a hundred. I want to do well for India and win the World Cup for India. That’s what I’ve been craving for the last five months.”
Well, that was seriously an epic answer and showed how confident our female players are. We are totally in awe of Smriti’s reply and we hope India lifts the WWC 2017 cup this time.
