Especially from a couple of years, Twitter is been playing a crucial role in bridging the gap between celebrities and fans, and even in between celebrities themselves. Be it achieving any milestone in sports, or about a movie, Twitter is now a platform where the medium of speech and expression goes pretty well.
Many conspiracies, happenings and sweet secrets of our idols were revealed on the Twitter by their allies and fans. We all loved it now and then. Goof ups and mis-tags are of course part of this. And something similar happened with Rajeev Shukla who is often associated with Indian cricket fraternity.
Rajeev Shukla, Indian Premier League chairman had irked Indian cricket fans after he congratulated the India women’s cricket team for making it to the Champions Trophy final instead of the World Cup final. Shukla’s tweet, after Mithali Raj‘s side, stunned Australia by 36 runs in the second semi-final on Thursday, was described as ‘insulting’ by some fans.
This Congress MP tweeted: “Congratulations to @BCCIWomen team for making it into the Champions trophy Final by beating Australia. Great knock by @ImHarmanpreet.” Soon after realizing the error, he rectified and reposted it.

Kicking this aside, India is going to face the hosts England in the final. The match will be held at Lord’s on Sunday. This is the last opportunity for skipper Mithali Raj and Indian pace bowler Jhulan Goswami, the leading run-scorer and wicket-taker in women’s one-day international history respectively, as the two 34-year-olds most probably will not play for the following World Cup.
Right from the inception of the World Cup in 1973, England and Australia are dominating the tournaments. As of now, New Zealand is the only other country to have won the event, that too in 2000.
