Indian cricket team became No. 1 Test team in ICC Test Rankings after beating New Zealand by 178 runs in the second Test at Kolkata on Monday. The win sparked celebrations across the country, with fans wishing Team India on its success and enjoying the moment in their own ways.
However, becoming a top team in the world is no small journey. It is not an overnight process, but a long, gradual one, which begins with team building. The seeds for this achievement were sown first by Sourav Ganguly, who taught the team to win overseas and handpicked players like Virender Sehwag, Zaheer Khan, Harbhajan Singh, Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni to steady the ship of Indian cricket.
The best part about this achievement is that even Kohli understands the importance of his predecessors and seniors who have helped Indian cricket reach to this height.
Recently, the Indian Test skipper Virat Kohli presented former star players Zaheer Khan and Virender Sehwag with a memento on the occasion of India’s 250th Test match at home.
It happened when Zaheer and Sehwag were doing a show with Jatin Sapru. Kohli made a surprise entry and handed over the silver coins to his former teammates. It was a beautiful moment as it is always good to see new generation giving respect to the heroes of past.

Both, Zaheer Khan and Virender Sehwag, have contributed massively to Indian cricket. These two were very important members of the team when India became the no. 1 Test team under MS Dhoni’s captaincy and also when India lifted the World Cup trophy in 2011.
