Virender Sehwag Gets Emotional In An Interview With Harsha Bhogle Post Retirement

India’s dashing batsman Virender Sehwag’s phenomenal career has ended with some disappointment without playing the last International match. Sehwag after announcing his retirement, BCCI didn’t talk anything about his statement and not even planned for felicitating such a great player in the Indian team. Hence, BCCI planned a felicitation party on Sehwag’s home ground in Delhi.

Thus, on the first day of the last Test match between India and South Africa in Ferozshah Kotla Ground in Delhi, BCCI named one of the stands of the stadium with the name of Viru and BCCI felicitated him for his cricket for India in the past. Sehwag became emotional while he was giving the last speech as a cricketer.  Sehwag thanked each and everyone from his parents till the physicians who helped him in his cricket career.

Harsha Bogle has taken an interview that showed Sehwag’s simplicity and love for the game of cricket. Here goes the interview:

My most memorable moment was scoring my first Test ton because when I started playing, everyone said that ‘Sehwag is very good in limited overs cricket and his batting style suits ODIs’ but I thought if I had scored heavily in the four-day Ranji Trophy matches, I should get to play in the Tests. So when I got an opportunity, I was very excited. That is why when I scored my first century in Test cricket, it became the most memorable moment,” said Sehwag.

When Harsha asked about what else he thought he could have achieved, Sehwag said, “Maybe I could have scored a 400 and broken Brian Lara’s record. I thought I had a chance of scoring 400. Unfortunately, I got out after reaching 319,” he said. The highlight of the interview was when Sehwag promised his sons that if they score more than 319 runs in any format, he would gift them ‘Ferrari’ car.
