Will India Experiment against Bangladesh keeping in mind the T20 world cup next year?

Team India will cherish a series like this as Bangladesh is currently ranked 10th in the ICC T20I Team Rankings. Any side would be thinking about giving a chance to the players who require match time or require opportunities to prove themselves at the international level.

The Indian side is already experimenting with their spinners as they have not picked their premier spinners Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav for their previous two series which were against stronger sides like West Indies, who are a  force in the shorter format, and South Africa.

Kohli explained the decision owing to the fact that the team needed more batting depth, which can be better provided by Washington Sundar and Rahul Chahar. However, this strategy will be thought of once again as the new spinners could not provide the batting depth when they needed to. India could score only 134/9 on a batting track in Bengaluru where the Proteas chased down the target with 9 wickets in hand.

The T20I series starts from 3 November according to the India vs Bangladesh schedule. This might be the last chance for Sundar and R Chahar to prove their worth.

Another area where the Indian team might be looking to experiment will be at the top of the order. Virat Kohli is capable of opening the batting as well bat till 4. He might open the innings against Bangladesh in order to sort out the issues at the top. They might try out Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Manish Pandey, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, Krunal Pandya and Rishabh Pant as the batting order if they go with 4 bowlers. This might mean Shikhar Dhawan will have to wait for some time before cementing his place in the side. There is also a chance of Dinesh Karthik getting a game because of his prolific performances in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Team India will miss Hardik Pandya as he certainly needed match time. He will be a certainty in the starting XI for the ICC T20 World Cup 2020 if he recovers well in time from his back injury and gets enough matches under his belt.

Ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah is also undergoing treatment for his back. That will mean an extended trial for Deepak Chahar, Khaleel Ahmed and Navdeep Saini. It will be interesting to see whether Team India pick Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who has not been at his best in recent times. Bangladesh will be a good opponent for him to get back into his rhythm and try and cement his place in the squad for the mega event next year.

Bangladesh tour of India 2019 will begin in the first week of November with the T20I series followed by a couple of Test matches. Be sure to check the live cricket score for the entire series as the Bangladesh cricket team has previously played only one game of both formats each in India.
