[WATCH VIDEO] Zimbabwean Fielders Team Up For ‘One Of The Best Run-Outs’ Of The Year To Dismiss SL’s Dilruwan Perera

After the visitors have stunned the hosts when they went on to win the ODI series 3-2, Zimbabwe Cricket Team is now eyeing its first Test victory since 2013 as the African nation continues to give Sri Lanka all it can handle in a one-off match in Colombo.

The visitors have been impressed with both bat and ball. Zimbabwe set a 262-run lead entering day-4.  It’s a moment in the field that is the undoubted highlight of the whole match so far. Sri Lanka’s Dilruwan Perera became a victim of one of the most brilliantly executed run-outs after Zimbabwe’s debutant Tarisai Musakanda and Malcolm Waller combined to send the Lankan batsman packing.

It was a great combined effort by the fielders and keeper. Tirasai Musakanda who played a significant role in the run out was then delighted by his work and had a good laugh in the celebration.

Earlier on day two, fielding at the point, Musakanda ran and dived to his right to prevent a back foot shot from Asela Gunaratne piercing the infield. As he fell to the ground he flicked the ball up to Waller, who also gathered it one-handed and fired a one bounce-throw to keeper Regis Chakabva.

Keeper Regis Chakabva then collected the ball and removed the bails as the non-striker Dilruwan Perera was well short of his ground. It was a great combined effort by the fielders and keeper.

This is the rarest of rare run outs one could ever see on the cricket field. The fielding standards have increased drastically in the last decade and batsmen must take that into account before committing to risky singles.

It has really been a positive tour for the tourists and they will be taking a lot of boost from the successful tour. There is no denying the fact that the Zimbabwe players are playing some quality cricket on this tour and will wish to take Zimbabwe Cricket to new heights from here on.
