Apple is gearing up for one of the biggest events on the tech calendar, its annual iPhone event in San Francisco’s Bill Graham Civic Auditorium. It is all set to release the iPhone 6S as well as a host of other products on Wednesday, September 9. Apple’s event begins at 6PM UK time, and is expected to run for about two or two-and-a-half hours. But what should we expect from this year’s event, and what else is on the way beyond new phones? Have a look at what are the rumours about the new iPhones from Apple and everything else that is expected from the Apple event.
When & Where to Watch?
The event begins at 6PM UK time on 9th September. The company will be live streaming the event on Mac, iPhone, iPad, Apple TV and also for PC users. They can also watch the stream using the Apple TV, where a special “Apple Events” app will appear as the event approaches.
Apple will live stream the release event. You can watch it here. Apple’s own “Events” page will also offer a replay of the event soon after it finished.
List of new products to be launched at Event:
- iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus
- iPad Pro
- Apple TV
- Accessories for Apple Watch
iPhone 6s 3D Touch Display:
Apple has long been expected to incorporate the “Force Touch” technology used in the Apple Watch and latest Macbook, which lets users press down hard to select special menu shortcuts.
However, the iPhone’s implementation of this technology will possibly be far more advanced. It will reportedly have something called a “3D touch display”, meaning its touchscreen can detect three different levels of pressure.
The new iPhones will continue with the 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch screen size like the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
iPhone 6S Camera:
The iPhone has had an 8 MP camera for the last few years. Although the camera gets better with each year and megapixel counts are often inflated. This time we’re expecting the new iPhone 6S & iPhone 6S Plus to have a new 12-megapixel camera. The camera will also reportedly record video in up to 4K.
According to 9to5Mac, “An upgraded image signal processor that comes as part of the new A9 system-on-a-chip will ensure that the new sensor will not wash out or otherwise decrease the quality of photos.”
iPhone 6S Colour:
iPhone 6s will come with a thickness of 7.1 mm, which is 0.2 mm thicker than iPhone 6. The new iPhones are expected to be available in Apple Watch Colors like Gold color and the long-rumored Rose Gold hue.
Faster LTE and 2GB RAM:
According to an AppleInsider source, the “iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus” will be upgraded to 2GB of RAM. Extra RAM enables your iphone to handle multiple tasks at once.
Apple iPhone 6S will come with a “new Qualcomm-made LTE chip” which can deliver twice the LTE speeds of the current iPhones.
Apple TV:
The list of new products to be launched at the September event includes the new Apple TV. The new device will almost certainly be another minimalist box, but it will feature a new Siri-connected remote able to bring voice control to your big-screen viewing.
The remote can be linked to Apple TV via Bluetooth. It’s expected to cost $150 and will come with better graphics, 16GB onboard storage compared to 8GB in current models.
iPad Pro:
Besides the new iPhones, the company is also expected to launch the long-time rumoured 12.9-inch iPad dubbed iPad Pro. This iPad model is said to sport Force Touch-enabled stylus and will also have optional keyboard attachment accessory. It will be available for pre-order in October this year and will go on sale in November.
