Apple Launches New Smaller iPad Pro, Cheaper Apple Watch Alongside iPhone SE

The tech giant, Apple took the platform at its headquarters in Cupertino, California on Monday, March 21 to announce a solid pack of new gadgets and software updates. The company has unveiled its subsequent iPhone which is a mash-up of its predecessors iPhone 5s and 6s, a smaller iPad Pro and it has slashed the price of its iPad Air 2 and Apple Watch.

Apple has made an announcement about a slew of products that includes the new cheapest-ever iPhone SE, iPad Pro and Apple Watch. The new device isn’t the biggest or best iPad though, but it’s absolutely not the worst one, either. The tech giant also took the opportunity to remind us how it thinks about privacy and the FBI. Without further fuss, here’s everything Apple announced yesterday at its March 2016 event. Take a look!

iPad Pro

Apple has unveiled a smaller version of the iPad Pro tablet during the launch event at the company’s headquarters in Cupertino on March 21. After releasing the first iPad, few months back, Apple launched the productivity-oriented iPad Pro. Adding to its Pro lineup, the company has unveiled a smaller and inexpensive version of iPad Pro. The new iPad Pro features a 9.7-inch display while the original business-geared tablet has a 12.9-inch display. Most of the specifications of the original iPad Pro, including the 64-bit A9X chip, also apply to this latest device.

Apple is anticipating the iPad Pro with a more powerful processor and a camera that provide more consumers an incentive to purchase a new tablet. It is hitting the market as Apple’s iPad sales have been declining for several years. On the Camera front, the back camera is actually being upgraded from 8 megapixels to 12 megapixels, and it will be able to record 4K video, with Retina flash built in.

Pricing

The smaller, new iPad begins at $599 for US customers, down from around $800 for the original. The price for an iPad Air with 16 GB of storage is being reduced by $100 to $399 in another effort to drive sales. The 9.7-inch iPad will be available in India at Rs 49,900 for the 32 GB with (Wi-Fi) model and Rs 61,900 for the 32GB (WiFi + Cellular) model.

Both iPad Pro sizes are available in offerings of 32GB, 128GB and a new 256GB capacity which is the highest of any iOS device. Apple will commence accepting orders for the smaller iPad Pro from March 24. The new iPad Pro will begin shipping a week later, on March 31. The company announced that it will bring the tablet to India in April.

Apple Watch

Apple has slashed the price of its smartwatch and has also launched a host of new bands in an effort to drive more sales of a gadget that hasn’t attained a huge following, though. Prices for the Apple Watch will commence at $299, down from $349. Apple has also unveiled a distinct kind of wristband made of woven nylon, along with more colours for existing types of bands.

The increasing variety is designed to appeal to the approximately one-third of Apple watch owners who wish to switch bands. The highly anticipated Apple Watch was released a year ago, but sales haven’t met some of analysts’ more bullish assumptions. While Apple hasn’t unveiled price, IDC’s analysts estimate the tech giant shipped 11.6 million watches last year.
