The leading mobile chat application WhatsApp is so much concerned about its updates. Waking up early morning and finding the different interface of your WhatsApp account is no wonder anymore.
Though this giant application is habituated to its updates, the previous year’s updates such as voice calling, video calling, and blue ticks played a remarkable role in the welfare of the application. After all, the ‘status update option’ made it almost look like an another Facebook kind of window.
This year, WHATSAPP is getting ready to roll out a major new update that will bring an impressive new feature to the free messaging app.
Coming to the story, WhatsApp is now testing yet another feature in its beta version on Android. This time the instant messaging giant has added launcher app shortcuts to its IM platform. These shortcuts allow users to access certain features inside the app directly by tapping on them.
As reported by Android Police, the beta version brings shortcut app launcher for WhatsApp’s camera and for launching new chats as well as accessing starred conversations (up to three).
Yes, in a bid to make the app more accessible to those with large social circles, the app will soon let users pin their favored chat windows. As of now, these conversations are chosen in a random order.
Letting you give pride of place to your most messaged contacts and group chats, the new feature will save you plenty of time searching for the correct chat window from your bulging list.
It is worth adding that these launcher icon options can also be dragged out of the template and used as a separate app. Also, adding a shortcut for the WhatsApp camera and the chat have already been present as home screen widgets on Android smartphones. This makes the aforementioned new feature redundant.
The update won’t drop just yet, however, with WhatsApp to force you into waiting a little longer for the coveted feature. Interested users can get their hands on the particular feature by joining the Beta Programme or can side load the APK file.
The company said in a blog post that,
“Just last year, we shared that one billion people around the world use WhatsApp every month. Today, we are excited and proud to share that one billion people around the world use WhatsApp every day to stay in touch with their family and friends.“
Best of all, these latest update features are something which everyone is badly striving for!
