Xiaomi Mi 5 Release Date, Price And New Features

We have heard and spoke much about the upcoming smart phone Xiaomi Mi 5 since last year. At last there has been some clarity on the phone. Earlier the company reported that Xiaomi Mi 5 would be launched in July and available in August. The plan is that its forerunner Mi 4 completes one year and that would replace Mi 5. But that didn’t happen. The device is also expected to be priced at around Rs 24,575 ($386/€350/¥2,399).

Now the mobile manufacturing company is instructing that Mi 5 will be launched in August which is yet to be confirmed. Company has also said that Mi 5 is coming with a big screen called Mi 5 plus and having many more new features than Mi 4. It is going to have new design with metal body satisfying the buyers with its new feature of fingerprint scanner.

As of now, the reports said that Xiaomi Mi 5 is featured with 5.7 inch QHD screen with 2560 X 1440 pixels and having Gorilla Glass 4 protection. Phone is powered by either Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 or Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, with 32/64 GB internal storage, expected to feature 4 GB RAM and 3000mAh battery. Coming to Camera, it is featured with a 16 MP rear and 8 MP front cameras both with optical image stabilization.

Display

Xiaomi Mi 5 reportedly features a 5.7-inch Quad HD display with screen resolution of 1440×2560 pixels, which is the standard in all flagship smart phones. In addition, the screen has protection with Gorilla Glass 4.

Camera

The camera of Mi 5 will be featured with a 16-megapixel rear and the selfie camera is going to be a 13-megapixel.

Processor

According to the reports, Xiaomi Mi 5 will sport a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 and also sports a Snapdragon 810 processor.

RAM and Storage

Reports say that the RAM in Mi 5 would be of 4GB. The handset is expected to come in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB storage variants with microSD card expansion option.

Fingerprint Scanner

Fingerprint scanning is currently the most advanced technology of authentication in smart phones. It is said that the sensor works on ultrasound tech and not the optical technology as found in the current models.
