Mark Zuckerberg Says Facebook Will Allow People To Post Whatever They Want  And Will “Stand Up For Free Expression”

Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Facebook, declared that the social media platform will allow people to post whatever they want and will “stand up for free expression” despite knowing it will make a lot of people angry.

36-year-old Zuckerberg made the claim during his latest appearance at the Silicon Slopes Tech Summit in Utah, Friday last week.

The CEO said that Facebook previously tried to resist moves that would be called as too offensive, but says he now believes that he is being asked to partake in excessive censorship.

During the summit, Zuckerberg said, “Increasingly we’re getting called to censor a lot of different kinds of content that makes me really uncomfortable.”

He added, “We’re going to take down the content that’s really harmful, but the line needs to be held at some point.”

He then talked about how the long list of things you’re not allowed to say on social media keeps on growing.

Zuckerberg said, “It kind of feels like the list of things that you’re not allowed to say socially keeps on growing, and I’m not really okay with that.”

He explained the idea of the company’s new free expression idea.

He said, “This is the new approach [free expression], and I think it’s going to p**s off a lot of people. But frankly the old approach was p**sing off a lot of people too, so let’s try something different.”
