Tech Report: Samsung has sent samples of their new foldable display that will be used in their new Samsung Galaxy Fold phone to rival giant tech companies like Google and Apple.
AppleInsider said that “The samples reportedly measure 7.2 inches, just 0.1 inches smaller than the main panel on the Samsung Galaxy Fold.”
Samsung is likely a candidate that will provide the foldable displays to Apple, Samsung currently supplies OLED screens that are used in the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max. The report also added that “Samsung is currently able to produce about 2.4 million foldable displays per year, it’s contemplating ramping up to 10 million.”
In the recent years, Apple has consistently shown great interest in the Foldable OLED display. With Samsung launching the Galaxy Fold, the pressure is now increasing at the tech giant to deliver a competing product.
But Apple will not be releasing this kind of technology until 2020, and the iPhones for this year are expected to have fixed panels with less bezels.
