3 Men Dressed Up As Delivery Boys In New Delhi Stole Cash And Jewelry From Houses While Occupants Were Out
50-year-old Sharif and his 2 companions were arrested by the Delhi Police for dressing up as delivery boys and for stealing cash, jewelry, and other valuably things from houses while its occupants were out, the police added that the 3 men would leave the house without leaving any traces.
The police arrested the 3 men after they were captured in CCTV footage, here is a screen capture of them trying to break inside a house.
The 3 men disguised themselves as members of a new grocery service that is being provided in the city, they would hand out attractive flyers to security guards, and the flyers said “Get fresh vegetables on call. Delivery within an hour, coming soon to Delhi.”
The security guards would then let them get inside the complex or apartments so they could publicize their new service.
The 3 men became a major concern for the Delhi Police after the men managed to do the crimes in broad daylight and they did not leave any fingerprints behind.
The only thing that was common about the robberies were that they happened in those complexes that were often visited by grocery delivery companies.
A police team that was led by ACP Satish Kumar and Inspector Dinesh Kumar was assigned to investigate and arrest the men that were behind the robberies.
The team recovered a CCTV footage from a housing society that showed the men entering the complex.
The police used the CCTV footage to gather information about the suspects, and on Tuesday night, the police set up a trap in the Rangpuri area in New Delhi, they arrested the 3 men with country-made guns, 2 knives, and other tools that they used to break in houses.
The police arrested 26-year-old Fahim, 44-year-old Shahid, and Sharif.
Shahid, Fahim, and Sharif were living in a rented room in the Khoda colony in Ghaziabad.
Fahim is related to Sharif, who is considered as the leader of their gang, and Shahid met them after serving his sentence in the Kasna jail.
The three men said that they used the delivery boy disguise as a cover after realizing that it was really hard to get into societies that had high-security measures.
They decided to buy identical t-shirts, caps, and pants to look like workers of a grocery delivery company and printed out flyers so they could promote their services in the complexes.
The three men also wore gloves so the police could not trace them through their fingerprints, the 3 men only targeted jewelry and cash.
Another modus of the group was that they only hit those houses that were empty, they would first ring a bell in the houses and would see if there is someone inside them. If someone answered the bell, they would give the flyers, and for those houses that were empty, they would break inside them and rob them.
The 3 men handed their looted items to a driver who lives in the northeast part of New Delhi, the driver then goes to a jeweler and would pawn them.
