59-Year-Old Father Commits Suicide On The Wedding Day Of His Daughter By Blowing Up His House

A 59-year-old father from Pittsburgh committed suicide on the wedding day of his daughter by blowing up his house.

The incident happened in Edgewood, Pennsylvania, at 2:30 pm of September 14, 2019.

The police said they have recovered the body of the house owner after spending hours finding it. The owner of the house is a male, but the authorities did not release his identity.

But, according to DailyMail.com, the house is owned by John Evans, a father of 3 kids.

According to a number of posts found on Social Media, Lauren, the daughter of John, got married when the incident happened.

Officials said most of the family members were at the wedding event when the suicide bombing happened.

Ashlee, one of Evans’ daughters, went on social media to tell people that they should respect their family’s privacy.

Laurent got married to Derek Drnevich on Sunday at the Catholic Community of the East End of Pittsburgh.

Neighbors of Evans said they saw him standing outside his house before the massive explosion took place.

The house of Evans at 318 Garland Street was torn apart by the explosion, neighboring houses were also damaged by the bomb blast.

The death of Evans has been ruled a suicide.

Police Chief Robert Payne of the Edgewood Police said, “This gentleman apparently had some personal issues and we’ve had information from neighbors that would indicate that there’s great potential here that he would have blown the house up.”

The Chief added, “It looks like he may have been able to disconnect the gas line itself in the basement of the house and of course it wouldn’t take much but a spark to explode the house after that.”

The Chief also mentioned in the press release that investigating officers had visited the house of Evans before for mental health-related domestic issues.

He said, “We’ve been here before, we know who this gentleman is, and I’ll leave it at that.”

The police evacuated the street on Saturday evening after a bomb squad was called in to investigate the car of Evans.

Evans reportedly left his phone on the windshield of the car.

Payne said this was “of odd, and so that troubles us.”

During an interview with Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Donna Antolovich said, “We came outside to see what was going on, and the house was in flames — still standing — but in flames. Three to five minutes before the house blew up, the owner was standing in front of it. After that, nobody could find him.”

Another neighbor said, “I was devastated. I’ve been here my whole life. I’ve known them my whole life. Their daughter was getting married today and they were supposed to be at a wedding.”

Chief Payne said one Police Officer was injured in the incident after the officer broke his wrist while trying to assist the fire crews.

A home next to the house of Evans was also damaged, neighbors said a new young family was about to move in it.
