A 66-year-old hunter was gored to death by an elk that he had shot the day before.
Mark David, the hunter, was archery hunting in the United States of America when he set his sights on a helpless elk.
During the trip to Oregon, he wounded the creature, but he was unable to locate it before the sun went down.
The hunter went back to the scene the next day, but he did not count on the furious deer to be waiting for him.
Upon returning, the elk charged at him and gored him in the neck with his antlers.
David was rushed to a hospital, but he died of his injuries later.
The landowner of the area where the incident happened tracked down the elk and killed it.
The Elk is the third-largest type of land mammal that could be found in North America.
The Oregon State Police released a statement about the incident.
The statement said that the landowner tried to save the life of the hunter, but the wounds were extremely fatal.
The police added in the statement:
The animal was injured but David was unable to find it and kill it before sundown so he returned the following day with the landowner to look for it. The elk charged and gored him in the neck with its antlers.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the victim, may his soul rest in peace.
