8 children were killed and 15 others sustained injuries in Mini Truck-Van accident in Hapur, Uttar Pradesh. Officials said that one adult was also killed in the accident.
Reports suggest that the accident happened near the Sadikpur Village in Hapur District of Uttar Pradesh.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the van was coming back from a wedding and was headed to Salepur Kotla, its passengers attended a wedding in Bulandshahr.
The mini-truck, which was over-speeding, hit the van from the opposite direction.
The police said that the impact was so severe that the van was torn in half and its passengers were thrown out of it.
The passengers of the van were rushed to a hospital nearby, where doctors declared 8 children, who were 8 to 14 years old, dead and one 20-year-old adult as dead.
15 other passengers are recovering from the injuries that they sustained from the accident.
The police released the identities of the 6 deceased children, Aksha, Anas, Abdul Rehman, Sufiyan, Gayyur, and Shifa.
The police added that a 20-year-old adult was also killed in the mini truck-van accident.
The driver of the mini-truck managed to escape the scene, the police have assigned a team to track down the driver and arrest him.
The dead bodies of the 9 people were sent for an autopsy and were returned back to their family members afterward.
CM (Chief Minister) Yogi Adityanath sent his condolences to the family members of the deceased and has asked local authorities to help the injured family members.
Aditi Singh, the District Magistrate of Hapur District, said that a letter will be handed to the state government.
Singh said that the letter will seek financial assistance to the affected family members of the deceased.
