9-Year-Old Boy Indonesian Boy Walks 10km Per Day To Work As A Mascot To Help Family Pay Bills

A 9-year-old boy went viral on Instagram recently after he told a passer-by the things that he was going through.

Rehan, the boy, was pictured sitting on the side of a road, showing that he was exhausted.

It is believed that Rehan has to wake up early in the morning and walk 10 kilometers to head to the busy Jalan Gatot Subroto in South Kalimantan to work in a costumed mascot.

The boy works to entertain drivers that are stuck in traffic or office workers that are on their way to work.

In order to appeal the crowd, he needs to draw acts.

Not only that, he also changes his costumes on a daily basis to keep the acts fresh. Some of the cartoon characters that he covers are Dora the Explorer, Upin and Ipin, and Spongebob Squarepants.

As to why he decided to work as a street clown, Rehan confessed that it allows him to fulfill his daily needs, which helps him pay meals, help pay his family’s house rent, and school fees.

He said that his work helps him purchase packaged rice, which he brings home every day in order to feed their family.

The mother of Rehan is working, however, he said that the income that she has is only enough to pay the rent of their house.

Talking about the fact that he has to walk 10 kilometers each day, he said that it is tiring, but he added that it helps him support his family.

He said that he loves to see his mother happy, and helping her out does the job.

Rehan also shared that he chose to start working in dawn so he could avoid traffic jam.

The boy leaves job before night so he could play football with his friends.
