Auhmaud Arbery: Father And Son Who Murdered Black Man That Was On His Daily Jog Charged With Murder

The 2 men that were caught on cam killing Auhmaud Arbery while he was on his daily jog, has been arrested and charged with murder.

64-year-old Gregory McMicheal and 34-year-old Travis McMicheal were detained on Thursday for the fatal shooting of Ahmaud Arbery, a black man that was haunted like an animal before getting killed.

The 2 men are charged with murder and aggravated assault.

Arbery was jogging in February when he was confronted by the pairs.

When there no charges placed against the father and son, who are white, the entire country showed support to the victim.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation announced on Thursday that the 2 men had been taken into custody.

It is said that 34-year-old Travis McMicheal was the one that shot and killed 25-year-old Arbery.

What Happened?

Arbery, who was unarmed, was out running in the coastal city of Brunswick in the afternoon of February 23, 2020.

According to a police report, Gregory McMichael said that he saw Arbery and believed that he resembled the suspect that was involved in burglary.

The father and son armed themselves and pursued him in a pick-up truck.

Gregory Michaels said that he and his son told Arbery to “stop” because they wanted to talk with him.

They then claimed that Arbery had attacked his son.

Wanda Cooper, the mother of Arbery, said that the police told her that her son had been involved in a burglary before the incident, but the family said that they do not believe that the keen jogger had committed a crime and said that he was unarmed.

A number of calls were made to the emergency services around the time of the confrontation.

According to reports, neighbors said that a black man was seen at a home that was under construction, and when they asked what the man was doing, the caller said “running down the street”.

The Truth

Everything changed when a mobile phone video went viral on social media, and it showed Arbery being murdered.

The video, which was taken by a man in the neighborhood, shows that McMichaels was waiting for Arbery as he jogged down the road in broad daylight.

Arbery could be seen jogging and going around a pickup truck that was parked, however he see saw a man that was outside with a shotgun.

Immediately, Arbery tried to grab the gun, but the 34-year-old son shot him.

64-year-old Gregory McMichael was a former law enforcement officer.

President Trump

The outcry over the killing of 25-year-old Arbery reached the White House, where Donald Trump, the President of the United States, offered condolences to the family of Arbery on Thursday.

Talking about the incident, President Trump said:

It’s a very sad thing, but I will be given a full report this evening.
