Boracay Beach In Philippines Closed For 3 Days After Chinese Woman Buries Diaper In Sand

The Boracay beach in the Philippines has been closed for 3 days after a Chinese tourist decided to bury her baby’s poop diaper in the sand.

In a video that went viral, it showed a Chinese tourist washing the young child in the sea while another woman tried to bury the nappy in the sand.

The local authorities have closed a portion of the beach for three days.

The Boracay Interagency Rehabilitation Group said they have launched an extensive clean-up operation to find the diaper.

During an interview with ABS CBN, a local news agency in the Philippines, Natividad Bernadino, the manager of the Boracay Interagency Rehabilitation Group, said, “We have restricted swimming temporarily while we do the cleanup and as we try to locate where the diaper was buried.”

Natividad added, “We are planning to give pamphlets through the airline on the do’s and don’ts on the island, especially on the proper way to throw garbage and policy against defecation at Boracay beach.”

Authorities are also trying to find the woman in the video.

Bernadette Romulo-Puyat, the secretary of Tourism, released a statement about the incident.

Secretary Bernadette said, “Whoever is the violator, whether a foreigner or Filipino, should be reprimanded, there are penalties involved.”

She added: “The good thing there is that Filipinos are conscious and they want to keep Boracay clean. If they see any wrongdoing, report it to us so we can reprimand those responsible swiftly because we cannot tolerate this.”
