A brave grandfather managed to catch a massive rat after his grandchildren spotted it running across their garden.
Bobby McKinley, the grandfather, lured the massive rat out from the bushes with cheese after his grandkids saw the beast when they came to stay before the coronavirus lockdown happened.
The grandkids of Bobby were playing out in their garden when they spotted the creature.
The kids said the massive rat had a chunky long pink tail.
At first, Bobby thought the animal could have been a squirrel, but upon investigating, he found out that it was indeed a rat.
During an interview with the Mirror, Bobby said that he used chocolate to lure the massive rat, but ended up switching to cheese after he failed to catch it.
Bobby told the Mirror:
About six weeks ago the grandchildren came to us and said they had seen a rat. We would usually get squirrels and birds in the garden, so we thought it was one of those. And then the kids described the long, pink tail and we knew right away that it was a rat. We had a trap down for ages and had put chocolate in it and just couldn’t get it, but after we moved it and put a bit of cheese in it, we caught it. When we did, I couldn’t believe the size of it.
The rat that he caught was so massive that he had to use his 2 hands to lift it up.
Bobby also talked about rats in the area.
He said:
We live near a river, but have never had bother with rats before. People would leave things behind when they go to the Glen to feed the birds, and the rats are sitting there. They’re not even scared of people when they walk past them.
If I saw that rat in my garden, I would scream, run, scream again, and find a new house.
