Full Video: A small airplane was caught on cam making an emergency landing on a busy road in Seattle after it faced problems in its engine.
The entire incident above was captured by the dashcam of Washington State Trooper Clint Thompson while he was driving along the State Route 7, which is south of Seattle and west of Tacoma, when he saw the single-propeller plane descending.
When he realized that it was going to make an emergency landing on the road, he turned on his emergency lights and followed the trail of the plane.
The dashcam of Thompson captured the single propelled plane hitting the road and stopping at a red light.
At least the plane knows how to follow rules.
Johnna Batiste, the Washington State Patrol spokeswoman, released a statement about the incident, Johnna said, “Trooper Thompson just happened to be in the right place at the right time and witnessed the plane make an emergency landing.”
Johnna said that the plane needed to make an emergency landing after its fuel system malfunctioned.
Dennis Diessner, a driver, said, “When he went by me, I could’ve reached out and touched the tip of his wing. That’s how close I was to that plane.”
It was the first time that Thompson, the trooper, assisted an airplane to land on a highway in his 21 years of service.
Authorities confirmed that no person was injured in the incident.
During an interview with KOMO, a local news agency, David Acklam, the pilot, said, “I would like to thank the trooper for what he did.”
He added, the trooper “saved me from serious injury or death and somebody else from getting in a car crash with the plane.”
