A Civil and Sessions Court in Mumbai granted anticipatory bail to Binoy Kodiyeri, the eldest son of CPIM Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, in a rape case.

In June 2019, a woman from Mumbai filed a rape case against Kodiyeri and said that Binoy had been raping her for years and promised her that he will marry her.

Earlier this year, the woman found out that Binoy was already married.

The Dindoshi Civil and Sessions Court in Mumbai granted anticipatory bail to Binoy under 2 conditions.

The plea includes that Binoy must submit a personal bond of Rs. 25,000 and that he should report before the Mumbai police from 10 am to 1 pm every Monday for one month.

Binoy has also been asked by the judge to appear for the medical examination when asked by the investigating police officers.

Kodiyeri is currently facing charges of the Indian Penal Code 376 (Rape) and 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of the property on the complaint).

Binoy also went missing when the police started the case.

The woman who filed the rape case against Binoy claims that she had an 8-year-old girl that is their daughter.
