WA Fresh Delivered share an image on Facebook that showed a huge avocado that is around three times the size of a regular avocado.

The FB post by WA Fresh Delivered said, “New to WA Fresh Delivered, these massive avocados which are grown on a Queensland-based family farm can grow up to five times the size of a typical variety. The Avozilla hasn’t sacrificed flavor though, retaining the signature buttery taste of regular sized avocados.”

The post added, “The season is very short and we only have a few available so if you’re making a mega-guacamole or need to smash avo on toast for the whole street add one to your cart while they’re still available.”

The Avocado Avozilla is currently being sold for $14 each, one Avocado Avozilla can weigh up to 1.2 kilograms.

So where did this avocado strain come from? This specific strain of avocados are originated in South Africa and it is known that the Avocado Avozilla is softer and easier to spread than the original Avocado.

Ian Groves, a farmer at the Groves Grown Tropical Fruit Farmer, is the member of the Groves family who brought the Avozilla strain in Australia.

Mr. Groves said, ‘There’s certainly a shock factor when you pick one up and they’re as big as your head,’ he said.  I love them. We eat them at home all the time.’

Their family brought the strain to the country in 1958.

When asked about what the people thought about the Avozilla.

Mr. Groves said, ‘Everybody is pretty amazed to see these giant avocados and they are quite a statement when you see one it is unforgettable.’

He then shared the biggest catch they have ever done.

He said, ‘The biggest one we found so far was nearly 1.8 kilograms, often big fruit and big vegetables don’t taste as good as the smaller ones but in this case, they really do, they are very good eating fruit.’
