The Mathura police conducted raids throughout the state in a span of 16 hours and seized illicit liquor worth Rs. 1.1 crores. The police also seized illicit liquor from an ambulance and other private vehicles.
Satyarth Aniruddha Pankaj, a police officer of the Mathura Police, said that the raids were conducted in a span of 16 hours.
Officer Pankaj added that interstate smugglers of illicit liquor used vehicles and even an ambulance to smuggle the liquor.
On Friday alone, the police seized 1,198 boxes of illicit liquor, which is worth around Rs. 50 lakhs, from 4 smugglers. This was the biggest bust of the operation.
An Ambulance, a Car, an SUV, and a truck were also seized by the police.
Officer Pankaj said that on June 7, 2019, they seized 950 boxes full of illicit liquor were seized from a truck that was being led by an SUV, the liquor is worth around Rs. 40 lakhs.
On the evening of June 6, 2019, the police seized 350 boxes of illicit liquor that is valued at Rs. 20 lakhs, it was being smuggled in a truck and was guided by a car and 2 smugglers.
