Man Battling Cancer Wins $200,000 Lottery On The Last Day Of His Chemotherapy
Ronnie Foster, a man from North Carolina, was headed to his final round of chemotherapy when he found out that he won the lottery.
Ronnie is from Pink Hill, North Carolina, and he is battling Colon Cancer.
He was on his way to the hospital for his last chemotherapy session when he found out that he found out he won the lottery.
According to the North Carolina Lottery Commission, Ronnie Foster won $200,000.
Ronnie is a retired Department of Transportation worker and he said he bought his “Win It All” scratch-off ticket at the Short Stop on Jackson Street in Beulaville when he was traveling to the hospital.
In a statement that was released by Foster, he wrote, “I bought a $1 ticket and won $5. I decided to trade it in for a $5 ticket. At the last second, I decided to buy two tickets instead of one. I was already happy because it was my last round of chemo. Winning this made it my lucky day.”
After scratching the second ticket, Foster was shocked and could not believe that he won that amount of money.
In the statement that Foster released, he added, “I saw all those zeroes and I froze. I didn’t believe it until I gave it to the clerk at the counter to scan. When it showed ‘Go to lottery headquarters’ I started shaking. I couldn’t believe it.”
On October 25, 2019, Ronnie claimed his prize.
Due to the federal tax withholdings of the United States, Ronnie only brought home $141,501.
Foster said he’s going to save the money for future medical bills and other payments.
Foster said he has good insurance.
He added, “I have good insurance, but there is still some cost. This will make it a whole lot easier.”
Good things happen to those who wait! Enjoy the money Ronnie and we hope you beat cancer’s ass!
